Ante Up

Love is a high-stakes game.

A century and a half ago, Ante Novak died on a Croatian battlefield – and rose three days later as a vampire. Now he haunts Las Vegas, stealing blood and money from drunken gamblers and staying on the fringe of the powerful vampire organization known as the Shadows. His existence feels empty and meaningless until he meets beautiful Peter Gehrardi, who can influence others with his thoughts.

An attraction flares instantly, bringing a semblance of life to Ante’s dead heart. But the Shadows want Peter too, and they’re willing to kill to get him. As Ante and Peter flee, they learn more about themselves and each other, and they discover that the world is a stranger place than either of them imagined. With enemies at their heels and old mistakes coming back to exact a price, how can Ante and Peter find sanctuary?

Reviews

This was surprisingly a fantastic read. I was nicely surprised at just how much I really enjoyed this book. The is the element of danger, lust, love, and many different kinds of paranormals.

Goodreads Review

I absolutely adored Ante and Peter and they fit together perfectly. This was just a really fun and easy story to read. It had humor, romance and some action, too. It was well-written and paced well and Peter and Ante were both likable and had great chemistry.

Bayou Book Junkie

Ok, I won’t lie, this book is a lil out there. A supernatural smorgasbord, but damn if it isn’t compelling & lovely. It’s far more romantic then I expected, but it really pays off. This is just a wonderful book!

Goodreads Review

Even better as an audio book, and I already loved it!

Goodreads Review

Andrew McFerrin narrated this book and did a wonderful job. Ante’s accent sounded real to me and he managed to get across both his indulgence and amusement as well as his anger. He portrayed all of the characters well and told the story with good timing. He has a great voice for audio books and I hope to hear more of his work in the future.

Joyfully Jay

I really enjoy Kim Fielding’s writing, the world-building, her characters, and the story arc. The narration was an absolute pleasure to listen to. I thought Andrew McFerrin did a wonderful job, I loved his accent for Ante, and his unique character voices made it easy to follow along with the action. He has good pacing and timing, and a way of drawing in the listener.

Audible Review

I absolutely loved this book. I am a fan of Kim Fielding, but I wasn’t sure about this book. Vampires aren’t my favorite critters to read about.

I am so glad I didn’t let that stop me from buying and reading Ante Up! This is so much more than just a vampire story. I absolutely should have known that.
